Liquor Licenses in the Unorganized Territories
The County Commissioners are responsible for approving liquor license applications in the Unorganized Territories.

Procedures for Liquor License Applications:
Sufficient notice must be given for liquor license application to be submitted for approval at the Commissioners regular monthly meeting (held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month). The application process can be submitted via mail or office visit. The applicant is responsible for obtaining necessary documentation from the State of Maine (see below) to submit to the Commissioners. Once the application has been approved and signed, an ORDER will be issued by the Commissioners and the documentation will be mailed to the applicant. The applicant then forwards the completed documentation to the State of Maine.
New Petitions:
ON PREMISE:
It is required to be advertised in a local newspaper as a public hearing two weeks prior to the Commissioners Regular Meeting. Therefore, to be placed on the Commissioners Agenda and in order to meet advertising deadlines, we must receive the request one month in advance.
A $10.00 Fee must be submitted to the County Treasurer.
ORDER will be signed at the Commissioners meeting.
OFF PREMISE:
Is not required to be advertised in a local newspaper as a public hearing.
Commissioners approve at their regular monthly meeting.
A $10.00 fee must be submitted to the County Treasurer.
ORDER will be signed at that meeting.
Renewal Petitions:
ON & OFF PREMISE:
Is not required to be advertised in a local newspaper as a public hearing.
Commissioners can approve at the next available meeting (special meeting).
A $10.00 fee must be submitted to the County Treasurer.
ORDER will be signed at that meeting.
