In the State of Maine, Property Taxes are handled at the TOWN level, NOT at the COUNTY level. For tax information and updates, please contact the Town Office where the property is located. The Hancock County Finance Department and the Treasurer’s Office are the central focal point where all outside County departments deliver all monies daily, with a proper accounting. The Finance Department helps to manage and maintain quality controls in all financial aspects of the County, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and monthly Bank Reconciliations.  The Finance Department monitors and maintains controls over the multiple fund balances within the County, as well as Federal & State grant fund spending.
