Janitor (part time)

Hancock County Government is seeking part time janitor to fill a vacancy in our Facilities Department.

Our Facilities/Maintenance Team ensures that County Building facilities run smoothly. From
groundskeeping to ensure a clean and neat outside environment across the facility to keeping the
restrooms clean for all of our employees and visitors. The Facilities Team always works hard to make
sure that the Hancock County building continues to be welcoming and cared for.

The position’s duties include: cleaning offices, common areas and rest rooms throughout the
Courthouse Complex, and other duties as assigned. Hours are evenings, on call, as needed with some
scheduled fill in coverage.

Required: High School diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years of age; ability to work nights and
weekends and in adverse weather conditions; ability to lift, carry, and move 50 pounds; ability to read
and follow written and oral instructions; ability to work independently; ability to do manual cleaning and
perform manual labor including snow shoveling.

This can be a physically demanding position and typically requires: climbing, balancing, stooping,
kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, etc.

Preferred: Preference will be given to individuals with previous related custodial experience.
The starting rate of pay for the Janitor position is $ 16.18 and additional compensation may be given
consideration with relevant experience.

Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Hancock County background check
requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
