Patrol Deputy

Hancock County Government is seeking full time Patrol Deputy to fill a vacancy in our Sheriff’s Office.

The Patrol Deputies will protect and serve the citizens and visitors of Hancock County. Patrol Deputies work a shift of six days on and four days off rotating between dayshift and evenings. Lateral transfers on a year-to-year basis are offered for up to ten years of experience. Each deputy is assigned their own fully outfitted cruiser for their use.

Required: High School diploma or equivalent, valid Driver’s license, computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office/Word, knowledge of county and towns geographic layout. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, successfully complete the ALERT test, be in adequate physical condition and have a minimum of the law enforcement pre service certification.

Preferred: Preference will be given to post-secondary education, certified law enforcement experience and/or military experience. Full-time Police Academy graduates preferred. CCSO Law enforcement Department Deputy Sheriff’s are required to reside within the state of Maine and mot more than 5 miles outside of Hancock County border.

The starting rate of pay for the Patrol Deputy position is $ 25.51 and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience.

Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Hancock County background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
