Skilled Maintenance

Hancock County Government is seeking to fill a Skilled Maintenance vacancy in our Facilities Department. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week and benefits eligible located in Ellsworth, Maine.

This position will work at the county court house and county correctional division.

  • The individual will perform preventative routine and predictive maintenance, make minor repairs on institutional equipment.
  • The individual will recommend referral of jobs beyond capability limits to private contractors.
  • The individual will maintain security of all tools, supplies, and equipment while working in a secured space.

Required: High School diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years of age; ability to work nights and weekends and in adverse weather conditions; ability to lift, carry, and move 50 pounds; ability to read and follow written and oral instructions; ability to work independently; ability to do manual cleaning and perform manual labor including snow shoveling.

This can be a physically demanding position and typically requires: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, etc.

Special Requirements: Candidates may successfully complete Correctional Officer Basic Course. Coursework may include physical, classroom, and hands-on training.

Preferred: Preference will be given to individuals with previous related maintenance experience.

The starting payrate for the Skilled Maintenance position starts at $ 20.59 – $21.84. The starting pay rate is dependent upon qualifications and experience; additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience.

Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Hancock County background check requirements with satisfactory results.
