Due to the extensive volume of records, lists are available to view of the most often researched. (Refer to the Maps menu on this page) Other methods of research are available via office visit–including index cards in which each town is separated.

IN 1976 THE STATE OF MAINE TURNED OVER TO EACH MUNICIPALITY THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR MAINTAINING ALL ROADS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF STATE and PRIVATE ROADS.

(Hancock County maintains very minimal portions or strips of roads in the Unorganized Territories)
